Posture Clinic: Chaturanga with Clare Dobson

Posture Clinic: Chaturanga with Clare Dobson

May 22 @ 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Clare’s Yoga Pose Clinics break down key poses and elements commonly found in a vinyasa flow practice to help us learn how to progress and practice safely. Each ‘clinic’ is an opportunity to delve into the detail, ask questions, learn variations, and discuss injury modifications. She’s starting with Chaturanga Dandasana, also known as 4-limbed staff pose, one of the main components of the Vinyasa. If you’ve ever wondered if you are doing it correctly then this is the ideal workshop for you. The pose, though regularly practiced, is not easy and requires great strength and knowledge of the body to perform it safely. Practiced well chaturanga can prepare the body for more challenging poses such as arm balances and inversions. This workshop addresses the anatomy and biomechanics of the pose, explores the common key weaknesses in chaturanga plus takes a look at options and alternatives for those with injuries or simply for those who wish to take a different variation. We’ll take time to look at the transition into upward facing dog, cobra and downward dog to help build strength around the whole vinyasa process. When: Sunday 22nd of May 3-5.30pm Cost: £30

Whether it be restlessness, grief, or anger, the breath is always there to help as move into difficult emotions that may otherwise remain locked in our physiology. A yoga asana practice without correct breath and breath awareness is only half a yoga asana practice. In this workshop we will gently investigate our natural breath and explore the transition from pure observation to the cultivation of a slower balanced inhale and exhale, which we will then apply to the practice of posture in order to draw the maximum benefits from our practice. When: Saturday 28th of May 3-5.30pm Cost: £25
